Above the Carron mouth are three beats, all of which can be productive. They are approached by the same route as Beat B. Once over the river, walk upstream to the island, keeping well back from the Kyle. Do not, under any circumstances, try to wade upstream following the shoreline. The mud is deep and very soft in places.
When wading, avoid entering the bays and you will find the bottom fairly comfortable.
